Year of Mercy - Dec. 8, 2015 - Nov. 20, 2016

A Year of Mercy
As you may know, Pope Francis declared an Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy that ran from the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary on December 8, 2015 through Jesus Christ the King of the Universe on November 20, 2016.

The Year Explained
It was Pope Francis’ great desire that, during the Jubilee Year of Mercy, all of us “will be steeped in mercy, so that we can go out to every man and woman, bringing the goodness and tenderness of God.” We drink deeply of mercy so that we can give it away to everyone “as a sign that the Kingdom of God is already present in our midst!” (Pope Francis, Misericordiae Vultus, #5)

The Year Month by Month
In the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, they designed a schedule of Mercy Months, with each month dedicated to a specific Work of Mercy and its corresponding Mercy Actions. You can find the entire Mercy Month schedule here.

Jubilee Year of Mercy - Video Series

Pope Francis declared a Jubilee Year of Mercy to begin on December 8, 2015 and continue through November 20, 2016. Catholics throughout the Archdiocese of Milwaukee were invited to practice the Works of Mercy throughout the jubilee year. A video series was created featuring Fr. Ken Omernick, the archdiocese's official Missionary of Mercy, to help guide and inform.  Click here or further below.

Pope Francis has invited us to use the Year of Mercy to “foster an encounter with these (Judaism and Islam) religions” so that it “may open us to even more fervent dialogue.” (Misericordiae Vultus. #23)
