The Year of the Family

 

Pope Francis has announced a special Year of the Family for March 19, 2021, to June 26, 2022.  The year commemorates the fifth anniversary of the apostolic exhortation Amoris Laetitia (The Joy of Love). Amoris Laetitia presented by the Holy Father — On March 19, 2021, the beginning of the “Amoris Laetitia Family” Year took place, and with a video message Card. Farrell, Prefect of the Dicastery for the Laity, Family and Life, introduces the series of ten videos in which the Holy Father, together with families from five continents will talk about the content and spirit of the Apostolic Exhortation.

Earlier this year, Pope Francis released a message concerning a new celebration in honor of all grandparents and the elderly. The new World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly will be celebrated this month on Sunday, July 25, 2021, and then every year on the fourth Sunday in July.
