Enlightened by Faith, Enriched by Education

Attendance Information

At your child’s Baptism you promised to raise your child in the ways of the faith.  You do this by taking them to Mass on Sunday, teaching them to pray, providing them with the opportunity for religious formation, and bringing them into the Sacramental Life of the Church.  St. Kilian parish provides Religious Education classes to assist you in your role as the first teacher in the way of the faith.

If your child needs to miss class — at any grade level — you can email or call Dennis.  If your child becomes ill on Saturday or Sunday, please email or call the Religious Education Attendance Line, 262-673-4831 ext. 7118.  Please leave your child's name, grade, and catechist, along with a short reason for their absence on the voice mail.  If you call the Parish Secretary or the School Secretary, we do not receive those messages until Monday.  If you call the RE Office, there is the possibility we may miss your call as we only check those messages prior to the start of RE sessions!

Religious Education Attendance Line (during weekend)- 262-673-4831 ext. 7118 or

During class times, the Attendance Line will be answered when someone is in the office.

  • Due to the limited amount of classes, students are expected to attend every class. There are only 24 classes per year which amounts to 24 hours of religious formation for 4K-Grade 7 and 36 hours for Grades 8-11.
  • We understand that there are times that a student cannot be in attendance due to illness or a family commitment.
  • Students are expected to complete the lessons that have been presented in class when they are not in attendance.
  • For students in 4K & 5K, lessons will be sent home for parents to complete with their children.
  • For students in Grades 1-8, this could include using their books to read through and complete the chapter, doing the unit test, completing the end of year test, etc.
  • For students in Grades 9-11, this could include reading through material provided that was presented by the Catechist, completing one or more questions, or writing a reflection paper based on the topic presented.
  • Catechists will let the students know what work needs to be completed and will follow up that it has been finished.
  • Grades 9-11 — If a student misses more than two classes per semester, there will be a make-up session scheduled that they will be required to attend.  Parents will be notified when and where this session will take place.  Or they may be assigned an additional Service Learning Project.
  • PLEASE NOTE:  If a student in Grades 9-11 fails to complete the necessary assignments, to attend the make-up session, or complete the additional Service Learning Project, they may not move on to the next grade level or if in the Grade 11 class, Confirmation may be delayed.
