Religious Ed/Christian Formation resumed on September 12th!

Thank you for being a part of our family here at St. Kilian Parish, and for fulfilling the responsibility you assumed when you had your child or children baptized…that you would be “the first teachers of your children in the ways of the faith.”  Helping you to be the best teachers of your children in the ways of the faith is the reason that St. Kilian provides Christian Formation programs for your children.  We understand that life is demanding and that the religious formation of your children competes with many other activities in your weekly schedule.  Please know that the first and most important Catholic formation tool at your disposal is weekly celebration of Mass and participation in the sacramental life of the Church.  When you look at the Ten Commandments you see that the first three have to do with God — keeping God first in our lives; respecting his Holy Name; and keeping holy the Lord’s Day [by participation at Mass] — these are first because we are called to love God before anything else.  Our love for others and the things of the world flows from our love for God.

The Christian Formation (CF) Program at St. Kilian supports parents in their obligation to form their children in the faith and practice of the Catholic Christian life.  The goal of the Christian Formation Program is to aid in the growth and development of the children’s faith so that it can become a real guiding force in their lives. To continue to provide educational and spiritual formation, while identifying and fulfilling the needs of families and parishioners of all ages.  And to build up the body of Christ, within and beyond our parish community, through evangelization and service.

The Church’s ministry seeks to guide young people in the call to holiness by developing a personal relationship with Jesus Christ by meeting Him in the Scriptures, in the life and teachings of the Catholic Church, and in their own prayer lives.
