Jayne M Steiner

2nd Grade Teacher

Hello, my name is Jayne Steiner and I am honored to say that I have been a part of St. Kilian School for almost twenty years.  When I began my career at our school, I was the part time 4K teacher and worked in our computer lab (which contained Apple IIe machines) doing skill work with students grades 1 – 8.  As our 4K program grew, I worked less in the lab and spent more time in the 4K classroom.  I also started spending two afternoons a week in the 3rd grade classroom as a teacher’s aide.  After three years, our school’s population required a second full time 3rd grade teacher and I was hired as the other third grade teacher, working as a colleague with Mrs. Zanchetti for four years.  In 2003, I had the opportunity to become our 2nd grade teacher and have been here ever since.

I have been married to my husband Mark for 19 years and we have two children.  Alex is an 8th grader and Mackenzie is a 5th grader in Kewaskum, where we have lived since 1996. Outside of teaching, I enjoy spending time with the children and helping with their activities and multiple sports teams.  Our family has also been fortunate to travel around the Midwest, as well as, Arkansas, Florida, South Dakota, Yellowstone and most recently, Washington D.C. and Virginia.

One of the joys of teaching at St. Kilian is getting the chance to discuss and teach the students about God, Jesus and their Catholic faith as a whole.  They are eager to learn about the teachings of Christ. I, along with their parents, get the opportunity to guide their exploration into the real meaning of Jesus’s love and what that means to each one of them in their hearts.  Since 2006, I have led our 2nd graders in a production of the Last Supper as preparation for their First Communion.  We also create Eucharist banners to celebrate their special day.  It’s a wonderful way to have the students understand the meaning of the Eucharist and what Jesus does for all of us.
